Steven D. Weiner is a partner at Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP, a multi-service law firm of over 125 attorneys practicing out of 6 offices in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California.
A licensed pharmacist, Steven has 30 years of litigation and trial experience representing a diverse group of clients in the medical science and technology fields. Steven employs his pharmaceutical background and unique knowledge of medicine and science in the defense of matters involving toxic torts, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, as well as professional medical and nursing home malpractice. Steven serves as national supervisory and coordinating counsel for major asbestos manufacturers, and has overseen thousands of cases in state and federal courts throughout the country, as well as multi-district litigation matters. He served as national defense trial counsel following the 2011 listeriosis outbreak that caused 30 deaths across 28 states, the largest foodborne illness out-break to date in the United States.
In the area of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, Steven’s experience ranges from the defense of actions pertaining to the clinical trial phase to post-marketed products. Steven has also provided risk management advice to companies engaged in drug clinical trials.
In addition to being a highly experienced trial attorney, Steven is a much sought-after lecturer. He has spoken at numerous national seminars in connection with his practice interests, and was a key-note speaker at the worldwide ANSI conference convened in Washington, D.C., in 2014.
Steven graduated cum laude from St. John’s University School of Pharmacy, where he was elected to the National Pharmaceutical Honor Society. He earned his J.D. at St. John’s University School of Law, graduating in the top 10% of his class.
